FULL CURRICULUM

24 practical lessons across 6 modules.

Every module includes instruction, an applied activity and a clear connection to the final assessment.

01Module 1 — Define the onboarding resultStart with the purpose, boundaries and completion criteria of onboarding rather than a random list of tasks.
  1. 1.1

    What onboarding must accomplish

Connect onboarding to shared understanding of scope, people, systems, information, approvals, priorities and the first delivery milestone.

  2. 1.2

    Separate sales, contracting and onboarding

Identify which decisions should already be complete and which details must still be confirmed before work starts.

  3. 1.3

    Map stages and owners

Assign responsibility for each task, decision and approval so onboarding does not depend on assumptions.

  4. 1.4

    Define done

Create measurable completion criteria for information, access, kickoff, initial priorities and outstanding risks.

02Module 2 — Prepare before welcoming the clientConfirm the agreed work and prepare your internal system before requesting information from the client.
  1. 2.1

    Review the approved scope

Extract deliverables, exclusions, schedule, communication terms, revision expectations and client responsibilities from the agreed information.

  2. 2.2

    Create the internal client record

Set up a consistent client name, folder structure, contact record, task list and decision log without storing unnecessary sensitive data.

  3. 2.3

    Plan the onboarding sequence

Order requests by dependency so the client receives a manageable set of actions instead of several disconnected messages.

  4. 2.4

    Prepare the welcome message

Explain what is confirmed, what happens next, what the client must do and when the first working milestone will occur.

03Module 3 — Collect information and access safelyRequest only what is necessary, explain why it is needed and use an approved access method.
  1. 3.1

    Build a focused intake

Ask questions that directly affect goals, audience, workflow, priorities, constraints, approvals and quality expectations.

  2. 3.2

    Request files and brand information

Specify the file, preferred format, purpose, owner and due date while avoiding duplicate or unnecessary collection.

  3. 3.3

    Plan account access

Prefer role-based invitations, delegated access and approved password-management tools instead of sending credentials in chat or email.

  4. 3.4

    Track missing items and risk

Record outstanding information, the owner, follow-up date and the delivery impact without blaming the client.

04Module 4 — Lead a useful kickoffUse the kickoff to confirm decisions, responsibilities and the first working plan rather than repeat information already collected.
  1. 4.1

    Design a focused agenda

Prioritize objectives, scope, workflow, approvals, communication, risks and first-week actions within a realistic meeting time.

  2. 4.2

    Prepare decisions and questions

Separate information you can confirm from decisions only the client or authorized person can make.

  3. 4.3

    Document the meeting

Capture decisions, actions, owners, deadlines, open questions and items that affect the approved scope.

  4. 4.4

    Send the kickoff recap

Turn notes into a concise shared record and ask the client to correct misunderstandings before delivery continues.

05Module 5 — Manage the first working weekTranslate onboarding decisions into visible tasks, communication points and an achievable first delivery.
  1. 5.1

    Build the first-week plan

Break the first milestone into tasks with owners, dates, dependencies, review points and definitions of completion.

  2. 5.2

    Confirm the communication rhythm

Set the primary channel, update frequency, response window, urgent-request path and approval method.

  3. 5.3

    Raise blockers early

Explain the blocked item, required input, delivery impact and practical options before a deadline is missed.

  4. 5.4

    Deliver the first visible win

Choose a useful, appropriately sized first deliverable that demonstrates the agreed process without creating unapproved extra work.

06Module 6 — Close and improve onboardingConfirm that onboarding is complete, transfer open items into normal delivery and improve the workflow using evidence.
  1. 6.1

    Complete the onboarding quality check

Verify scope, contacts, access, files, decisions, approvals, tasks, reporting and unresolved risk before closing the stage.

  2. 6.2

    Transition to ongoing delivery

Move remaining actions into the active delivery system and confirm the next milestone and reporting date.

  3. 6.3

    Request focused feedback

Ask about clarity, effort, missing information and confidence in the next step instead of requesting only a general rating.

  4. 6.4

    Improve the standard workflow

Record what caused delay, confusion or repeated questions and make one controlled change for the next client.
